Biography

From October 2023, Bruno Kovač is employed as a young researcher at the Chair of Buildings and Constructional Complexes (KSKE) (mentor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mateja Dovjak). In 2021, he completed the university undergraduate study of Environmental and Public Health, and in 2023 the university graduate study of Environmental and Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka, Croatia. The topic of the diploma thesis research was the impact of ozone on the biofilm of clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae, and the mentioned research is part of the project “Opportunistic pathogens of the water supply system: a new challenge in water treatment“, led by Prof. Dr. Ivana Gobin. He won the Dean’s Award for Student Activism in the 2021/2022 academic year. He also won the Rector’s Award for the best student scientific work in the academic year 2022/2023. His current area of research is the characterization of the building envelope and its role in pollutant transfer and air quality in buildings. He participated in the ERASMUS+ student exchange traineeship programme from 25 April 2023 to 25 June 2023.
